Shivratri, or ‘the great of night of Lord Shiva’, is a festival that is celebrated with great aplomb and devotion among the Hindu community of India and in parts of Nepal. It is said that a devotee who offers sincere and earnest prayers to Lord Shiva on the auspicious occasion of Shivratri, would be absolved of all the sins and could even attain ‘moksha’.
